Insurance Inspections & Claims

Independent damage inspections and written reports for moving companies, packing firms and claims handlers — from a workshop that can also carry out the repair.

That last part is what sets us apart. Most inspectors can tell you a piece is damaged. Rather fewer can tell you what restoring it would actually involve, because few have spent thirty years doing the restoring.

We work to whatever process your company requires, and we regularly handle claims for national and regional van lines, packing and moving firms, and military claims.

We can inspect and repair — one supplier for both halves of the claim. The inspection fee is fixed; any repair quoted afterwards depends on the piece.

How the work goes

Once we receive the request, we schedule the appointment directly with your customer. That takes the scheduling off your desk, and it means the person whose furniture was damaged is dealing with somebody who can answer their questions about it.

The inspection itself takes one to three hours on site, depending on how many items are involved. Photographs are taken and supplied where requested.

The written report follows. That takes several days rather than hours, because the pricing in it is researched and verified rather than estimated — a report is only useful to you if the figures hold up.

We conform to whatever claims process your company requires.

What it costs

Inspection reports begin at $185. Additional charges apply for photographs and where a claim runs to more than ten items.

Where a claim is settled in favour of repair, we can carry out that repair ourselves — see furniture repair and refinishing. Using one supplier for the inspection and the restoration removes a handover, and removes the argument about whether the quoted repair was achievable.

Serving members of the forces should see our military estimates page.
